History

Seiuli Ian Black, a Tasmanian Sailor and adventurer, dropped anchor in Samoa when he met the love of his life in local girl, Lyvia Seiuli Hansell thirty years ago, Ian Black used to manage Hotels and Resorts in the 80s – 90s, in Australia, Tahiti, Samoa and Fiji, before settling their family back here in Samoa where it is home. The first Sails Restaurant at Tauese, was opened in July 1996 right on Beach Rd, Apia. In 2007, Sails was relocated to its current location at Mulinu’u Beach, where Sails’ contemporary Samoan Open Fale design embraces the local architectural concepts. Seiuli and Lyvia have two children, who are also Sailors and both have represented Samoa in sailing.
